Who Should Join Transparency International (New Zealand)?

If you are concerned with issues of transparency, accountability and corruption both here in New Zealand and internationally, you should consider membership of Transparency International (New Zealand).

TI-NZ works in a constructive manner with government, other NGOs, government departments, professional bodies, private sector businesses, and individuals to increase transparency and accountability and reduce the incidence of corruption.

Membership Types and Fees

The fees below are valid for the membership period from 1 December 2011 through 30 November 2012 & are GST inclusive.

TI-NZ is a registered public charity.  All members are able to engage in anti-corruption agenda and network with other like-minded organizations and individuals while supporting a worthwhile NGO doing good work in New Zealand and overseas.

In addition to individual and student memberships, TI-NZ has a multi-level membership structure for organisations based on their size and level of commitment.

Platinum, Gold, Silver or Professional Services

Bronze Membership - $ 150.00 per annum

Bronze members are small businesses with less than NZ$1,000,000 turnover, embassies or non-profit organisations. Benefits of Bronze membership include:

  • 3 email contacts on TI-NZ mailing list, and receiving regular TI-NZ newsletter
  • 2 representatives may attend and vote at the TI-NZ Annual General Meeting
  • Receive 2 free or discounted admissions to official TI-NZ events

Individual Membership - $ 80.00 per annum

  • Receive regular TI-NZ Newsletter
  • Attend and vote at the TI-NZ Annual General Meeting
  • Receive 1 free or discounted admission to official TI-NZ events

Student Membership - $ 20.00 per annum

Available for full time students at an accredited educational institution

  • Receive regular TI-NZ Newsletter
  • Attend and vote at the TI-NZ Annual General Meeting
  • Receive 1 free or discounted admission to official TI-NZ events
     

Membership Procedure

New membership applications are referred to the next meeting of the Transparency International (New Zealand), Inc. Board. The Board considers applications in terms of the Rules. If the application is approved the Board confirms the applicant as a Provisional Member of Transparency International (New Zealand), Inc.

Provisional Members are considered by the next Annual General Meeting. An applicant only becomes a full member after approval by Members at the next AGM.

Guiding Principles

 

In pursuit of good governance, and in terms of New Zealand's commitment to freedom and human rights Transparency International (New Zealand) will:

  • oppose bribery and corruption vigorously and openly but not investigate individual cases;
  • work co-operatively with individuals, corporations, governments and international organisations in the fight against corruption;
  • operate on the basis of sound, objective research and analysis in a democratic, non partisan and non sectarian way;
  • seek funding that supports and does not compromise our ability to address issues objectively and freely;
  • cooperate in building, working with and supporting the work of the Transparency International Secretariat in Berlin and support other national chapters particularly in the Pacific region;
  • maintain a balanced and diverse governing body.

This area of our website is where we will progressively add information specific for TINZ registered members, such as draft policy documents, submissions and reports. Members are encouraged to contribute or comment on draft documents. When new draft documents are placed on the site all registered members will be advised by e-mail which will include a link to the Members' Login page.

Obtaining a Members' Login Username and Password

On receipt of your temporary Login and Password, Members can edit their access details through My Account Details.

Notices to all registered members will be posted in the Members' section and accessible once logged in.

Discussion Documents

Draft policy and report documents will be posted in the Members section for Members to make comments.

Transparency International (New Zealand) Annual Reports

The Annual Reports began in a reasonably informal manner but from 2009 it is planned that the Annual Report will include a number of formal reports, including a Transparency International (New Zealand) National Transparency Report - an update on current New Zealand transparency and corruption performance.
