Corruption Perceptions Index 2015 details

New Zealand drops again in the 2015 Corruption Perceptions Index

New Zealand fell to fourth place in the latest Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released on 27 January, 2016. This is its second consecutive drop in a survey it has previously topped 7 times because of the corruption-free reputation of its public sector.

Denmark, Finland and Sweden are now perceived to have the least corrupt public sectors.

Letter to the editor – Charter Accountants Acuity Magazine

Acuity's editorial focus on anti-corruption themes is to be commended. As Chair of Transparency International New Zealand Inc (TINZ), I am continually surprised to find how few New Zealanders know the reasons why Australia and New Zealand are perceived to have among the top 5% of the least corrupt public sectors in the world.

The basis for this ranking of public sector corruption is the Corruption Perception Index compiled annually by the Berlin-based Transparency International parent organisation.

Around 100 people gathered at Victoria University on 1 December to warmly remember anti-corruption champion Jeremy Pope. Despite his untimely death in August 2012 his advice shaped the Integrity Plus 2013 New Zealand National Integrity System Assessment (NIS) and it was dedicated to him.
