Jeffrey Galt 

Director

Jeff has worked in the public and private sectors in his native Canada and New Zealand since emigrating here in 1990.  He is a Chartered Accountant in Canada and a Chartered Accountant Fellow in New Zealand, a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and has been a member of Transparency International New Zealand since 2017.

Jeff has significant governance experience acting as the Chair of the Finance, Assurance and Risk Committee for a health sector regulator and is an independent member of that board.  He has member organisation governance experience and has conducted assurance reviews for not for profit entities.

His NZ work experience has included the Housing Corporation of New Zealand, the Reserve Bank, the International Monetary Fund (organisational project review of the central bank of Azerbaijan), Audit New Zealand, Westpac NZ, Biosecurity NZ, and ACC.

Jeff's last permanent role was at the Earthquake Commission where he was General Manager Governance with responsibility for enterprise programme management, legal services, operational policy and the ministerial and board services teams.

Jeff has provided finance, risk, governance and assurance to organisations on operations delivery in New Zealand through risk-based project and programme reviews, including change management, transformation projects and working with cross-government border strategy initiatives.  He has worked as the Chief Risk Officer for APEC21, Wellington Free Ambulance and is currently a qualified Gateway reviewer for the NZ Treasury.

Opportunities to advocate for the internal audit profession have been combined with promoting ethics and integrity in governance that complements his support for Transparency International.  He has written articles for Transparency International New Zealand and the Institute of Directors on internal audit’s role in governance and fraud and corruption.
