The announcement by the Prime Minister of potential regulation of lobbyists and other matters is welcome news to those who advocate for political integrity. Now we need to turn it into effective legislation.

The fight against corruption and the fight for climate justice are not separate struggles, but rather two sides of the same coin. Corruption is a major obstacle to addressing the threat of climate change. Combatting corruption is essential for building a sustainable and equitable future.

On 13 April NZCCL is hosting a panel discussion about the state of and promise of Open Government in light of Aotearoa New Zealand's recent Fourth National Action Plan for Open Government.

Developing a regional approach to combat corruption in the Pacific, sharing knowledge and experience, building capability, strengthening cross-regional advocacy and collaboration and generating ideas for training and fundraising were the focus of the Transparency International Pacific Regional Meeting held in Suva, Fiji late February through early March.

The second Summit for Democracy included a commitment by the US and others to enhance beneficial ownership transparency. The Indo-Pacific Regional meeting held in Korea called for Indo-Pacific governments to take greater action against corruption.
